Hunter Divisions

Short Stirrup Hunter

  • Same specs as Short Stirrup Equitation.
  • Suggested classes: 2 O/F, 1 hack.

*Cross entering may not be done at the same horse show. You may however, ride in Low’s at one horse show and bump up at another. You may return to lows at a later show.

*Low Children’s Pony

  • Fences 18″ – 2′ Smalls and Mediums;
  • 2’3″ Large.
  • Open to all ponies under 14.2 hands, ridden by a junior exhibitor.
  • This division must be offered in the Prize List as a separate division.
  • Cannot be combined with Children’s Pony Division.
  • May not cross-enter into Regular Children’s Pony Hunter.

*Children’s Pony

  • Fences 2′ Smalls;
  • 2’3″Mediums;
  • 2’6″ Larges.
  • Open to all ponies under 14.2 hands, ridden by a junior exhibitor.
  • May not cross-enter into Low Children’s Pony Hunter.

*Low Children’s Horse

  • Fences 2’6″.
  • Open to all horses ridden by a junior exhibitor.
  • Follow specs for Low Pony Hunter.
  • May not cross-enter into Children’s Horse Hunter.

*Children’s Horse

  • Fences 3′.
  • Open to all horses ridden by a junior exhibitor.
  • May not cross-enter into Low Children’s Hunter.

*Low Adult Hunter

  • Fences 2’6″.
  • Open to all horses.
  • Riders are restricted to Amateurs only.
  • This division must be offered in the Prize List as a separate division. (It may be combined with Adult Hunter ONLY IF ENTRIES IN EITHER DIVISION IS LESS THEN THREE (3) ).
  • May not cross-enter into Adult Hunter.

*Adult Hunter

  • Fences 3′.
  • Open to all horses.
  • Riders are restricted to Amateurs only.
  • This division must be offered in the Prize List as a separate division.
  • May not cross-enter into Low Adult Hunter.

Green Pony Hunter

  • open to ponies in their first year of showing over fences
  • Fences 2′ to 2’3″

Baby Green

  • Fences 2′ Small/Medium;
  • 2’3″ Larges;
  • 2’6″ horses.
  • Open to horses and ponies seven (7) years old and under in their first or second year of showing.
  • Horses are allowed to show in this division for two years as long as they meet the age requirement. Exempt from showing a second year are previous year’s high score champions and reserve champions.

Novice Hunter

  • Fences 2’6″.
  • Open to all horses who have not won more then three (3) blue ribbons over fences prior to December 1 of the previous year.
  • A horse may show all year as a Novice even if he wins more then three (3) blue ribbons during his Novice year.

Low Hunter

  • Fences 2’9″ or 3’3″.
  • Open to all horses.
  • Shows may do an optional 3’3″ Section B.
  • Will be judged as one class, one division.

Thoroughbred Hunter

  • Open to horses that are Thoroughbreds
  • Fences 2’6″ or 3′
  • Riders to pick their fence height.

Equitation Divisions

Lead Line

  • Open to children six (6) and under.
  • May be asked to trot.
  • May cross enter Shortest
  • walk and walk trot only.
  • If more than on class is held, points for all classes will count, however, there will be no bonus points for champion and reserve.

Shortest Stirrup

  • Open to children eight (8) and under.
  • Riders may cross-enter Pleasure Pony and Short Stirrup only.
  • Suggested classes: Walk, Walk/Trot, Walk/Trot/Center, Walk/Trot with 2X.

Short Stirrup

  • Open to children ten (10) and under.
  • Riders may cross-enter other divisions except at an AHSA Recognized Horse Show.
  • Suggested classes: Walk/Trot, Walk/Trot/Canter, O/F/

Beginner Equitation

  • Fences 2′. May trot corners in the O/F class.
  • Riders in their first or second year of showing.
  • Managers are encouraged to split this division juniors and adults.
  • Riders may cross-enter Pleasure Horse/Pony, Low Children’s/Low Adult Hunter and Novice equitation.

Equitation 13 & Under

  • Fences 2′ – 2″3 Ponies;
  • 2’6″ Horses.
  • Open to all ponies and horses.

Equitation 14-17

  • Fences 2’9″ – 3′.
  • Open to all ponies and horses.

Adult Equitation

  • Fences 2’9″ – 3′.
  • Open to all horses.
  • Adults who are amateurs

Novice Equitation

  • Open to Junior and Adult riders who have not won three (3) blue ribbons in equitation prior to December 1, Previous year. (Excluding Beginner Rider Ribbons won)
  • To be split Junior/Adult whenever entries warrant.
  • Separate awards at year end awards.

CCHSA Pony Medal**

  • Fences 2′ Smalls;
  • 2’3″ Mediums;
  • 2’6″ Larges.
  • Open to all ponies.
  • To be shown over a minimum of eights (8) fences.
  • Top riders may be brought back to work and or test on the flat.
  • Top twenty (20) riders at the end of the show season will be invited to compete in the Year-End Finals.
  • ANY RIDER WHO HAS QUALIFIED FOR EITHER THE ASPCA MACLAY OR AHSA MEDAL/AHSA PONY MEDAL FINALS IS NOT ELIGIBLE TO COMPETE IN THE CCHSA FINALS.
  • All three Medals must be offered at a horse show.
  • Judge must be a recognized judge at the Year-End finals.

CCHSA Horse Medal**

  • Fences 2’9″ – 3′.
  • Same specs as Pony Medal, horses only.

CCHSA Adult Medal**

  • Fences 2’9″ to 3′.
  • Same specs as Pony Medal,
  • horses ridden by adult amateurs.

** REGARDING MEDAL FINALS: All winners of previous years finals are NOT eligible to compete in the finals for one (1) year. A riders age is determined by his/her age as of December 1 of the previous year. If you are six on 12/1, but turn seven on 12/2, you may ride as a six year old all year. Children born on 12/1 must ride as the older age.

Pleasure Divisions

Pleasure Pony

  • Fences 2′ – 2’3″.
  • Open to all ponies.
  • No martingales in flat classes; martingales are permitted in over fence classes.

Pleasure Horse

  • Fences 2’6″.
  • Same specs are pleasure pony.

Long Stirrup Pleasure

  • Open to adults 30 years and over who are Novice riders.
  • Cross-enter only into Pleasure, Adult Beginner, Novice Equitation & Low Adult Hunter (if eligible)
